Hong Kong-based Kerry Logistics Network Limited (KLN) today announced the installation of a specially commissioned sculpture, titled "Token of Appreciation," by renowned local designer and artist Professor Hon Bing-wah. The sculpture serves as a token of appreciation to the community for their support in KLN's journey. It is also a celebration of Hong Kong's unique spirit and resilience.

The sculpture, a fish-shape object made with various international coins, is a fresh take on the bronze fish-shaped currency used in the Yin-Shang Dynasty. In Chinese, the name of the sculpture, "Shei Tâm Pai Beh," is also special. A small token of gratitude contributes to a larger expression of thanks, just like the coin is a small part of the whole sculpture. The Chinese name also carries another level of meaning. It symbolizes the "abundance" (餘) of goodwill (善) generated from the donated coins that are no greater used or exchangeable (餘 used in another sense) and will be used by UNICEF HK to benefit the community. It embodies the spirit of finding joy in helping others. The designer purposely included the word "yi" (意) in the name, which expresses gratitude and also echoes the Cantonese word for "good fortune" (餘宜), symbolizing auspiciousness.

The sculpture will be permanently displayed in the lobby of the Kerry Cargo Centre, where KLN's Headquarters is located.

The fish, a symbol of abundance and prosperity in Chinese culture, is also a motif that appears in early Chinese coins. Its presence in the sculpture signifies the continuity of history and the interconnectedness of different cultures. The various international coins used in the sculpture's scales shimmer and sparkle, like stars in the long river of history. They represent the diverse people and cultures that come together to form the fabric of Hong Kong society.

At the event, Ms. Judy Chen, Chairman of UNICEF HK, expressed her gratitude to KLN for the donation made in conjunction with this event to support children in need around the world.
