WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump shared an awkward birthday kiss with Melania on her cheek before the couple parted ways following Pope Francis' funeral.

Donald and Melania Trump shared a brief but awkward kiss on the eve of her 55th birthday as they prepared to part ways at Newark Airport.

While Trump boarded Marine One to head to his golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey, Melania climbed into her SUV, as per Irish Star.

Before leaving, however, the pair exchanged a moment of affection. As Trump was turning to enter the helicopter, he paused and turned back to Melania for a kiss on the cheek.

The gesture, though affectionate, had a somewhat awkward vibe, much like a teenage couple sneaking a kiss with their parents watching.

Trump initially waved goodbye but then seemed to change his mind, deciding to give her a peck on the cheek. Melania, not fully engaging with her husband, leaned in slightly, placing her hand on his shoulder as he wrapped his arm around her lower back.

As the video of Trump and Melania sharing an awkward birthday kiss went viral on social media, netizens couldn't help but flood the comments section with their own thoughts, which were mostly filled with sarcasm and mockery.

On Friday, April 25, the day before Melania Trump's 55th birthday, Donald Trump told reporters that they would be celebrating on Air Force One.

An aide brought a large bouquet of pink roses and placed it in the first lady's motorcade as part of the birthday festivities. During their meal on the plane, a special dessert was served—a chocolate coin bearing Melania's seal.

The Trumps had departed the White House on the morning of April 25, flying to Rome, where they arrived that evening. The next day, they traveled to the Vatican to attend Pope Francis' funeral.

After the ceremony, they quickly left Italy and returned to the US on Saturday night. During the flight back, Melania changed out of her funeral attire, stepping off the plane in a Burberry trench coat over black leggings, a shirt, and flats.

While aboard Air Force One, President Trump shared with reporters, "Oh, she's gonna have a great birthday. She's got a working birthday. I'll take her for dinner on the Boeing. I'll take her for dinner on Air Force One.”

However, Trump also admitted that he hadn't bought Melania a gift yet because he had been "very busy".
