Jammu and Kashmir Women Lawyers Association Condemns Terrorist Attack on Tourists in Pahalgam

Jammu and Kashmir Women Lawyers Association has condemned the terrorist attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam, which claimed lives and injured several others.

The association has also announced a one-day suspension of work by all women lawyers on April 23 as a token strike.

In a statement to Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com, the association expressed its profound sorrow over the incident and extended its condolences to the families of the deceased and injured.

“This tragic incident has left an unhealable void in the lives of the families of the victims, and we stand in solidarity with them and the people of Kashmir during this trying time,” the statement reads.

Jammu and Kashmir Women Lawyers Association further denounces this attack as a direct assault on humanity, peace, and the region’s cultural heritage.

“The attack on tourists is an attack on all of us. Such acts of terrorism have no place in our society, which is known for its hospitality and diversity,” the statement reads.

The association also called for swift and thorough action by the authorities to investigate and apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous crime.

“We urge a collective, unified effort to combat terrorism and preserve the peace and harmony of Jammu and Kashmir.”

The association has also decided to observe a one-day suspension of work on April 23 as a token strike to protest the violence and demand justice for the victims.

“This token strike is a mark of protest against this heinous act of terrorism and a demand for justice for the victims and their families,” the statement noted.

Meanwhile, the association’s President Heena Sultan highlighted the association’s commitment to justice, human rights, and the rule of law.

“As women lawyers, we pledge to support initiatives that safeguard the well-being and dignity of all citizens and visitors. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families in this time of grief and despair,” she said.

The association closed its statement by demanding justice for the victims of the Pahalgam terrorist attack and a safer, more just Jammu and Kashmir for everyone.
