Core Foundation Integrates Its Dual Staking Architecture with Maple Finance

Core Foundation Integrates Its Dual Staking Architecture with Maple Finance

Core Foundation's CORE/USD announced on Thursday the full integration of its Dual Staking architecture with Maple Finance SYRUP/USD, enabling institutional clients to earn yield on Bitcoin BTC/USD without any asset bridging or wrapping procedures.

This collaboration, launched earlier this year, has already managed to attract over 1,200 BTC in deposits.

How It Works: This integration powers Maple's Bitcoin Yield product, where BTC is held in segregated custody vaults at BitGo or Copper and deployed through Core's native staking interface.

Without needing to move Bitcoin off-chain or engaging in any token wrapping to create synthetic assets, the setup enables institutions to stake BTC directly on the Bitcoin chain, which is used to borrow USDC USDC/USD at low loan-to-value ratios, buy CORE, and stake both BTC and CORE within the Core validator ecosystem.

This "Dual Staking" model generates yield from both validator emissions and gas fees, typically generating annual returns between 4% and 8%.

These yields are then converted into BTC and paid back to lenders in kind, allowing institutional participants to maintain their native Bitcoin exposure.

"This integration marks a major step in the institutionalization of Bitcoin staking," said Hong Sun, an institutional contributor to Core Foundation, highlighting the increasing demand from institutions for simplicity, existing custody compatibility, and clear yield mechanics.

Highlighting the user experience aspect of this product, Maple's product lead Joe Flanagan stated that "Core's technology allowed us to build a yield-bearing Bitcoin product that's both more capital efficient and capital-protocol efficient, and it's also more intuitive for our institutional lenders."

This partnership is also setting the stage for lstBTC, a liquid staked Bitcoin token that will be launched later this year and aims to enable the capital-efficient use of staked BTC across trading and DeFi applications while still preserving custodial security.

The Core–Maple collaboration signifies the growing demand for on-chain institutional yield strategies as Bitcoin transitions from a non-yielding asset to a productive component of decentralized finance infrastructure.
