US President Donald Trump Virtually Spoke at the Coinbase State of Crypto Summit

Jun 12, 2025 at 11:40 pm

US President Donald Trump spoke virtually at the Coinbase State of Crypto Summit, addressing leaders in tech and finance.

output: US President Donald Trump made a surprise virtual appearance at the Coinbase State of Crypto Summit, delivering a short but punchy speech to an audience of tech and finance leaders.

President Donald Trump Highlights His Administration’s Pro-Crypto Agenda

Trump, who is known for his interest in cryptocurrency and touted himself as the “first crypto president,” also discussed his administration’s efforts to support the industry. He claimed that his administration ended what he called the Biden administration’s unfair restrictions on digital currencies.

“My policies allowed American innovators to fully realize their potential in this new technological frontier,” Trump said.

According to President Trump, his administration also terminated Operation Choke Point 2.0, which he viewed as an attempt by the Biden administration to limit the growth of the crypto industry.

“We established the first-ever Presidential Working Group on Digital Assets to provide strategic guidance for this critical sector,” he added.

The speech included details about creating a US Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and a Digital Asset Stockpile. These initiatives aim to position the United States as a leader in the crypto space.

President Donald Trump also mentioned the ongoing work with Congress to pass the GENIUS Act, which supports dollar-backed stablecoins. This stablecoin regulatory bill has recently advanced in the US Senate after a 68-30 cloture vote, bringing the bill one step closer to passage.

“Together, we are setting the stage for a new era of economic opportunity and technological advancement,” President Trump stated.

According to him, his administration is focused on providing clear rules for the crypto market, which will help America stay ahead in the global race.

“As this industry continues to flourish, so too will the American economy. I have no doubt that the future of finance is being written today, and it is an exciting time to be involved in this historic transformation,” President Trump concluded.

Coinbase CEO Calls Bitcoin a Check on Global Deficit Spending

President Donald Trump’s speech is a testament to his efforts to position the United States as a hub for crypto innovation. By rolling back what he called unfair restrictions on digital currencies and setting the stage for clear regulations, Trump aims to ensure that America dominates the global crypto landscape.

The Coinbase Summit brings together pioneers in technology and finance to discuss the future of these industries. Trump’s virtual appearance at the summit speaks volumes about the increasing role of cryptocurrency in national policy.

His administration’s focus on digital assets throughout his term is evident in the passage of the CLARITY Act, which aims to provide much-needed regulatory clarity for the crypto industry.

During the summit, Coinbase CEO, Brian Armstrong suggested that Bitcoin could serve as a crucial check on global deficit spending as democracies struggle to keep it under control.

If deficit spending increases too rapidly, Armstrong noted, it could lead to Bitcoin becoming the new reserve currency of the world. Conversely, if the world’s leading fiat currency becomes too strong, it might render Bitcoin largely uncompetitive. Ultimately, Armstrong believes that both fiat currency and Bitcoin will continue to exist in parallel.
