孟買：東里警察逮捕了兩個與假金幣騙局有關的人

被告Abdul Rauf Musa Ghameriya（52）和Pamesh Surendra Khimavat（32）被拘留，據稱欺騙了2.3億盧比的珠寶商

The Dongri Police in Mumbai have arrested two individuals for allegedly duping a jeweller of Rs 2.3 crore by selling him fake gold coins. The accused, identified as Abdul Rauf Musa Ghameriya, 52, and Pamesh Surendra Khimavat, 32, were booked after the complainant, Narendra Ladhuramji Soni, 48, approached the police.

Soni, a resident of Chaital Hardi, was allegedly duped by the accused between April 12 and April 14. The duo, who had been planning to cheat Soni, presented 25 counterfeit Switzerland based Valcambi Suisse gold coins, each weighing 100 grams, in complete packing to Soni. Each coin was sold for Rs 9.2 lakh.

However, later Soni realised that the coins were fake and immediately approached the Dongri Police Station on April 15 and reported the case.

A case was registered against the accused on Monday.

"The case was registered against the accused under sections 316(5), 318(4), and 61(2) of BNS on Soni's statement. A team, led by Senior Inspector Lad and his crime detection team, was formed to nab the accused.

"We received a tip-off that the accused would be arriving near Sandhurst Road with more fake coins. We laid a trap and spotted the accused, who were identified by the complainant. Both accused were arrested and during questioning, they confessed to their crime," said an official.

Further investigation revealed that accused Pamesh Khimavat had Rs 2 lakh in cash, which is suspected to be part of the scammed money. Both accused were produced before the court which granted six days of police custody for further investigation.

"The accused used to sell fake gold coins to unsuspecting victims and collect huge sums of money from them. We are now trying to recover the remaining cheated amount from the accused and the probe is on in a full swing under the supervision of senior officers," added the official.
