- Editor's note: In July 2026. Japan's Outsider Bookstore launched Cha Jianying's "Enemies of the State" as the second volume of its Mingshan Library. Cha Jianying said in her preface: "I am deeply honored that "Enemy of the State" has been selected into the "Mingshan Library". but at the same time I have some mixed emotions. For a collection of Chinese essays that describes contemporary Chinese figures and comments on China's reality and history. many of the long articles in the first volume were actually written by me in English and published overseas. and then translated into Chinese. spread online. or published in Hong Kong. The second volume contains two dialogues from "Interviews in the 1980s". which were published by Beijing Sanlian Bookstore. but they are censored and abridged versions. and the complete manuscript is used here. Mr. Zhao Guojun. who founded the library. suggested the title "Enemies of the State". which may have revealed why this collection will never be officially published in mainland China and can only be printed in Japan. I am not surprised by these twists and turns. but I still feel uncomfortable. " This article is excerpted from Cha Jianying's "Enemies of the State" and is authorized by the publishing house. Sometimes he is glib and sophisticated. sometimes he drops his book bag. shakes out his baggage. makes some small plans. and makes moves in the east and west. It's all for fun. In fact. he is kind-hearted and likes to be simple. relaxed and idle. He often says that life is too heavy and life is too tiring. I once heard me talk about the June 4th Incident of 1989. There was only an annual candlelight vigil in Victoria Park in Hong Kong. Foreigners also often mentioned it. but domestic people either forgot about it or avoided it. Liang Zuo was silent for a long time. and then sighed: "A mangy dog can't help up a wall!" Liang Zuo has been away for many years. Not a year goes by without thinking of him. and it makes me sad when I think about it. I originally wanted to wait until I retire and have nothing to do. and then slowly write down my memories. This time Peking University students are going to publish a class memorial book. I don’t know how the initiative came about. When I heard the news. it was already imperative. There were working groups. schedules. plans. division of labor. etc. The collective pressure is really overwhelming. Manuscripts. reminder letters. and work briefings from other classmates sent by the squad leader pop up in the mailbox every day. It feels like you are suddenly back on the middle school playground. and you are whistled to call you back to the team. So. let’s write down some memories about Liang Zuo now. During college. Liang Zuo and I had a lot of contacts. Grade 77 students were a generation "delayed" by the Cultural Revolution. and they paid special attention to their age. As soon as they entered school. everyone would ask each other how old they were and discuss their seniority. The result was that I was the youngest in the class. and there were some classmates who were more than ten years older than me. We also discovered some coincidences. For example. Huang Ziping and I were born on the same month and day. exactly ten years apart. For example. Chen Jiangong was ten years older than me and happened to be my brother's middle school classmate. They were "comrades" in the same Red Guard organization back then. I don't dislike being a junior. Because I skipped two grades. I was the youngest in the class from elementary school to high school. I got used to it. and I knew all the advantages and comforts I could take advantage of. Liang Zuo is only two years older than me. and he is also a junior among boys. but he has the habit of being an "old Liang". There are boys slightly younger than him in the class. one is Su Mu and the other is Li Chun. It is said that they were taught by Lao Liang a lot back then. Especially Su Mu. who looks and dresses like a "niche". which complements Liang Zuo's old-fashioned appearance. The good relationship between the two made Liang Zuo satisfied with his addiction of "teaching advice to others". I still couldn't quit this addiction after graduation. I heard Liang Zuo describe many times when he personally went to the film school to "mentor" Su Xiaodi. Every time. he looked smug and happy. To me. Liang Zuo adopted another kind of condescending "care". He is the only boy in the class who has bought me snacks. One weekend. several classmates and I went to his parents' house to play. After we came out. Liang Zuo took me home. He made a special detour on the way and bought me a big ice cream stick. Later. I learned that I loved eating fruit peels since I was a child. and Liang Zuo bought me some fruit peels. In my memory. the first time he and I talked was because I was wearing an old cotton monkey when I entered school. I started wearing that blue cotton monkey when I was in the first class of kindergarten. I took over two sleeves and still wore it as a short coat when I entered Peking University. With sharp eyes. Liang Zuo noticed that the collar of this cotton monkey had the word "cha" embroidered in red thread. and he took the opportunity to tease me. When he spoke to me after that. he couldn't help but adopt a tone of "adults talking about children". which made me dumbfounded. Over time. it became a kind of intimacy. I went to the United States before graduating. The next twenty years were spent walking around. My classmates from Peking University have gradually become distant and intermittent. and some of them have not even seen each other for more than ten years. Of course. they are very affectionate when they meet. What I didn't expect was that Liang Zuo and I would become more frequent after graduation. Especially in the 1990s. the number of times we met far exceeded that of other students in the class. The reason is simple. In those years. his family moved from a large courtyard in a small alley in Dongzhimen to a residential building outside Jianguomen. I stayed with my mother every year when I returned to China. The distance between the two houses was less than ten minutes' walk. At that time. Liang Zuo had become a "wrong" and was busy writing cross talk. TV dramas. and various social events. But because I don’t come back often and I’m a neighbor when I come back. it’s a special case. In his words. even though he is busy. he still has to entertain international friends. Every time he received a call from me. he would first ask in a long voice: "When did you arrive?" If the answer was not that he just arrived. he would make irresponsible remarks about gifts. Then came the planning: "I'll arrange our activities. you wait for my call." His "arrangements" were all new. and I basically went there with pleasure. although sometimes I felt that he was really treating me like a tourist. He and I went to the Lao She Tea House to watch folk art performances. to eat supper at the snack street. to search for books in second-hand bookstores. to look for calligraphy and paintings in antique shops. to listen to a symphony in a concert hall. and even had the experience of going shopping on a three-wheeler... Because the day we had arranged to meet was windy and sunny. and the flowers were bright and beautiful. As a result. he called a covered tricycle. and the two of them sat and walked from one end of Chang'an Street to the other. Liang Zuo was meticulous and planned everything carefully so that everyone would be happy. If something went wrong occasionally. he would have to deal with himself first. For a while. he liked to drag me to meet his friends who he often hung out with. Once when I had dinner with Yingda and Ma Ling. he made a grand introduction in advance: Yingda "is also a graduate of our Peking University. his dad and your dad are classmates at Tsinghua University. and we are classmates in two generations". Ma Ling "is not only an actor but also a fashion designer" and so on. As a result. when we met. everyone was polite and the conversation was not lively. Later. before I could apologize. Liang Zuo reflected: "I didn't do it well. I will improve it in the future." It seemed like he had made a big mistake. Another time. he said that I was entrusted by someone to have a meal with Mr. Cao. a friend of his in the music circle. "They also sincerely wanted to host me." As a result. during the meal. Mr. Cao talked about his romantic affair after several glasses of wine. and his words were indecent. When paying the bill. he opened a suitcase and showed it. There were banknotes of several currencies in it. stacks of them clamped on spring cards. After Mr. Cao left. Liang Zuo's face flushed red and he refused to accompany him all the way. He swore: "From now on. we will meet alone and never bring anyone else with us." After that. he never made such a suggestion again. Another time. he said mysteriously: I will take you to a newly opened place in Beijing tomorrow. I won’t tell you where it is yet. but I guarantee you will like it! As a result. the surprise program was to go to the children’s playground in Ritan Park to play with bumper cars! It was the middle of winter. and it was not a week. so the amusement park was empty. We bought tickets and got into the electric cars shaped like large colorful tea bowls. bumping into each other. After the game. Liang Zuo was not satisfied. so he changed to a different tea bowl and continued to fight. If a real child walked by at that time and saw two uncles and aunts in their thirties. dressed in puffy clothes. driving toy cars all over the place. and didn't know what to say. it would probably be "what a shame". Liang Zuo was in great spirits that day. He kept asking me all the way out of the amusement park: "How was it? Today was really fun. wasn't it?!" But as soon as he left the park. he returned to his serious look. planning where to eat next. and what time he would have to go home and work all night to write the script. That time I figured out that Liang Zuo actually had a need to be a child and have fun. but he had always been the eldest son. eldest brother. and father at home. and "Old Liang" and "elder brother" in front of his friends. It became a habit to suppress himself while carrying burdens and responsibilities. Even when he indulged occasionally. he had to use it as an excuse to take care of others. Because of his outstanding achievements in cross talk and sitcoms. some people began to call Liang Zuo the "Master of Comedy" at that time. He was also happy to boast about the liveliness of his life. with dinner parties. card games. saunas. and bars. all full of flowers and singing every night. At that time. he was still living in that simple building. with two small units. He lived upstairs and worked downstairs. The furniture was as simple as ever. The dining table was placed in the corridor. and the family crowded together to eat. The studio downstairs had a damp atmosphere. and it was also cold and gray in broad daylight. as gloomy as the owner's usual complexion. The first time I felt his loneliness was when I returned to China. He happened to be invited to Shanghai to write a script. Before leaving. I left a hotel phone number. saying that if I couldn't see him. I would call him. I had a lot of things to do that time and didn’t fight for a week. One day when I came back from outside. my family said that Liang Zuo had called me. It was already very late. so I immediately called Shanghai and he answered the call. I was so happy that I complained that I was bored sitting in the room writing scripts every day and didn’t even have any friends to chat with. When asked if he had eaten. he said he had just cooked himself a bowl of noodles. Then he said. if you are not sleepy. let's chat for a while. You can go get a drink first and sit in a comfortable place. or simply lean on the pillow. As a result. I hung up the phone until my ears hurt. If you are in Beijing. you will visit us as soon as you lift your foot. This situation happened many times: I ran out of cigarettes in the middle of a conversation at my house. or I wanted to read some book I mentioned. so we walked over to his place. sat down and chatted. and then he sent me back. and then came into my house again to continue chatting. Often he would also make a request: In this case. can we make a pot of tea and some fruits and snacks? In addition to the geographical advantages. Liang Zuo has a theory to explain why he and I are particularly suitable to be "chat friends": old classmates know each other well and trust each other. Now. we neither live in the same country nor work together. and the circles of communication are different. There is no interest or interest relationship. We can talk without any separation. There is no need to beat around the bush or be on guard. We can relax and tell the naked truth. This statement makes sense. Liang Zuo prided himself on seeing through the evil nature of human nature. He often teases me that I have lived in the United States for a long time and have never been involved in Chinese workplaces or social circles. so I am easily fooled. He once told me about the idea of a TV series. where every episode is a scam. and each episode is never the same. And tell me. this is 100% derived from life. Any time he heard me show up for some "idealistic foolishness". he would react quickly and extinguish it on the spot. just like a vigilant firefighter. In private. he did say a lot of "naked truths." some of which made me shudder. but he also often hit the nail on the head. He is obsessed with "Dream of Red Mansions". and the type of girls he likes can be seen from their names: . red. and green. He wrote a bunch of innocent novels in his early years. and claimed that he rewrote cross talk to make everyone's life easier. He once described to me a picture of "spending his old age in Yihong Courtyard". It was really a design that was both sad and happy. and made me laugh and cry. He will suddenly have very romantic and sentimental emotions. Once we were talking about two friends we are all familiar with. They had a deep love affair when they were young. but later they broke up. started their own families. had children. and cut off contact with each other. Liang Zuo was smoking a cigarette and suddenly said. but believe it or not. even if they become old men and old ladies. living on opposite ends of the earth. if something happens to her one day and she needs him. as long as she calls. he will definitely rush to her from the ends of the world. Liang Zuo generally did not talk about politics. When he did. he was very cautious. His views tended to be conservative. He was optimistic on the surface but pessimistic on the deep. There are also times of anger. One time that impressed me deeply. I spoke with emotion about the intellectuals of the old era. saying that there were people like Tan Sitong in the late Qing Dynasty. and the intellectuals in the Republic of China also had integrity. but today's literati are more timid than the others. There was a turmoil over the "Yangtze River Reading Award" in Beijing that year. I remember Liang Zuo's comment: A group of people who call themselves scholars judge and issue awards by themselves. They don't even have basic morals. so they have the nerve to sing high-profile words. I once told me that during the June 4th Incident in 1989. only candlelight vigils were held every year in Victoria Park. Hong Kong. Foreigners also often mentioned it. but domestic people either forgot about it or avoided it. Liang Zuo was silent for a long time. and then sighed: "A mangy dog can't help it up the wall!" Later Liang Zuo moved to the Jintai Road area. For a few years. I didn’t go back to China often because my daughter was too young. But every time I come back. we meet as usual. He told me that he was planning to buy a new house and that he had chosen a good place. This time it would be a multi-story mansion. He described the distribution. function. lighting and layout of each room in the mansion with great spirit. He said money was still lacking. but of course it wasn't a big problem. He was working hard to earn it. You're right again. there is also a guest room specially designed for friends to stay. At that time. old friends like you don't want to visit relatives and stay at your parents' house all the time. so you can come and stay here to ensure that you have all the food and supplies and are comfortable. In 2001 I lived in Hong Kong. I returned to Beijing at the end of April and had a phone call with Liang Zuo. His voice was tired and rushed. and sounded far away. He said that his father had just passed away and he was preparing for the funeral. He would soon accompany his mother to relax in other places. He also had a lot of chores. It seemed that he would not be able to meet him this time. I said it didn't matter. It was convenient for me to come from Hong Kong anyway. About ten days later. I flew back to Hong Kong. About ten days later. one morning. I suddenly received a call from Liu Zhenyun telling me that Liang Zuo had passed away two days ago. In his last moments. he was alone in a small house on Jintai Road. with "Butterfly Lovers" playing repeatedly on the tape recorder on his desk. Later I heard that Liang Zuo's funeral was attended by many people and was very decent. That morning. I went to a cinema in downtown Hong Kong and watched three movies in a row by myself. At the matinee. the audience was sparse and the seats were empty. This is a public episode. - US Treasury bonds were settled on the XRP ledger in 4 seconds. If you are curious about the outlook for Ripple and are wondering when XRP will rise. there is something to check before the price chart. The funds sent by JP Morgan's payment network Kinexis were transferred to Singapore's DBS Ripple account. and the settlement was completed in 4.2 seconds on XRP Ledger. It was a transaction that featured Ondo Finance and Mastercard. and marked the first time that a public blockchain was closed directly to an institutional cash network. 📍 [Trinity Tracking Project] Check ‘Hidden RWA Coin’ 👉 https://proreport.co.kr/f/trinityrwa Let’s make one thing clear. XRP Ledger is not owned by Ripple. Ripple is a company that operates on top of Ripple. and Ripple operates less than 10% of all validators. And the settlement asset for this transaction was not the XRP token. but the stablecoin RLUSD issued by Ripple. The expression “XRP went in 4 seconds” is not accurate. Here's what was accumulated during the same period. Japan's SBI Remit's Ripple acquired prime broker Hidden Road for $1.25 billion and changed it to Ripple Prime. and RLUSD was launched through SBI with approval from the Financial Services Agency of Japan and secured preliminary approval in Europe. However. the price of XRP was virtually flat throughout this period. There is no reason why the size of the company and the price of the coin must move together. However. 4 years is a long enough time to make you stop checking. Ripple best shows what it's like to bide your time and have nothing happen. On the night of December 22. 2020. the SEC Chairman who prosecuted XRP resigned the next day. The company he moved to was a company that invested 800 billion won in Bitcoin and Ethereum. And since that winter. the price of Ripple has been depressed for four years. Our team followed up one by one to find out why those four years were so quiet and who was there. The final piece is like this: If a 'highway' called Ripple is laid. the cargo that will actually run on it. that is. the 'RWA infrastructure coin'. is the core of this plan. Since we were unable to include all of the assets we are focusing on in this sector and their basis in the video. we organized them separately as data from the ‘Trinity Tracking Project’. We will deliver it 100% free to everyone who applies. ※ Investment caution · This video and provided materials are for informational purposes only and are not content that recommends buying or selling specific virtual assets or advises on investment.
