President Donald Trump said on Monday that he had been thinking about Canada, and how "they could become the 51st state, wouldn't that be interesting?"

After discussing a new trade deal with North America with reporters in the Oval Office, Trump was asked by RNC Chair Tom Carney what his plans were for the afternoon.

"Well, I’m a real estate developer at heart," the president began. There would be a lot of advantages to the people of Canada and the people of the U.S., and it’s something that we’ve discussed," Trump added.

After Trump compared the annexation to a "real estate deal," Carney responded by waving around the room and saying there are some places that are never for sale, and that he has spoken to Canadians about Trump's threats of taking over his country.
