Chinese automaker BYD has outsold Tesla in Europe for the first time, according to JATO Dynamics.

The automotive intelligence firm’s latest data shows that BYD registered 7,231 full-electric cars in Europe last month, narrowly besting Tesla’s 7,165 units.

This integration comes less than three years after BYD first entered the European market and only began operations beyond Norway and the Netherlands in late 2022.

Moreover, BYD’s European sales soared by 359% compared to the same period last year. In contrast, Tesla reported a steep 49% year-over-year decline in total volumes for April.
