A Mattoon man is getting special recognition from police after he jumped into action and saved someone from a burning vehicle.

마툰(Mattoon) 남성이 불타고 있는 차량에서 누군가를 구한 뒤 경찰로부터 특별한 인정을 받고 있다.

On Nov. 6, Anthony Crum was driving on S. 19th St. when he came across a parked vehicle on fire on the side of the road, Mattoon Police said.

Mattoon 경찰은 11월 6일 Anthony Crum이 S. 19th St.에서 운전하던 중 길가에 불이 난 주차된 차량을 발견했다고 말했습니다.

He checked the vehicle and saw it was filled with smoke, and the doors were locked.

그는 차량을 확인한 결과 연기가 가득하고 문이 잠겨 있는 것을 확인했습니다.

Police said Crum started to walk away, thinking there was no one inside, but then heard pounding coming from inside the burning car.

경찰은 크럼이 안에 사람이 없다고 생각하고 떠나기 시작했지만 불타는 차 안에서 쿵쿵거리는 소리가 들렸다고 말했습니다.

He then saw there was someone in the driver's seat slapping the window.

그때 그는 운전석에 누군가가 창문을 치는 것을 보았습니다.

Crum grabbed a baseball bat from his vehicle, used it to break out a window and was able to pull the driver out.

크럼은 자신의 차량에서 야구 방망이를 집어 창문을 깨고 운전자를 끌어내는데 성공했습니다.

MPD said the driver was disoriented and confused.

MPD는 운전자가 방향 감각을 잃고 혼란스러워했다고 말했습니다.

Mattoon officers and the Mattoon Fire Department arrived on scene shortly after.

Mattoon 경찰관과 Mattoon 소방국이 곧 현장에 도착했습니다.

Capt. Ryan Koop reported that Crum's actions saved the driver's life. By the time officers arrived on scene the front of the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames.

Crum was presented with a Mattoon Police Department Challenge Coin.
