マトゥーンの男、炎上する車両からドライバーを救出

マトゥーンの男性が、自ら行動を起こし、炎上する車両から人を救ったことで、警察から特別評価を受けている。

A Mattoon man is getting special recognition from police after he jumped into action and saved someone from a burning vehicle.

マトゥーンの男性が、自ら行動を起こし、炎上する車両から人を救ったことで、警察から特別評価を受けている。

On Nov. 6, Anthony Crum was driving on S. 19th St. when he came across a parked vehicle on fire on the side of the road, Mattoon Police said.

マトゥーン警察によると、11月6日、アンソニー・クラムさんは南19番街を運転中、道路脇に駐車していた車両が炎上しているのに遭遇した。

He checked the vehicle and saw it was filled with smoke, and the doors were locked.

車を確認すると煙が充満しており、ドアは施錠されていた。

Police said Crum started to walk away, thinking there was no one inside, but then heard pounding coming from inside the burning car.

警察によると、クラムさんは車内に誰もいないと思い立ち去ろうとしたが、燃え盛る車内からドンドンという音を聞いたという。

He then saw there was someone in the driver's seat slapping the window.

すると、運転席で誰かが窓を叩いているのが見えた。

Crum grabbed a baseball bat from his vehicle, used it to break out a window and was able to pull the driver out.

クラムは車から野球のバットを掴み、それを使って窓を割り、運転手を車から引き出すことに成功した。

MPD said the driver was disoriented and confused.

警視庁は、運転手が見当識を失い混乱していたと発表した。

Mattoon officers and the Mattoon Fire Department arrived on scene shortly after.

マトゥーンの警察官とマトゥーン消防署が直後に現場に到着した。

Capt. Ryan Koop reported that Crum's actions saved the driver's life. By the time officers arrived on scene the front of the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames.

ライアン・コープ大尉は、クラムの行動が運転手の命を救ったと報告した。警察官が現場に到着するまでに、車両の前部は完全に炎に包まれた。

Crum was presented with a Mattoon Police Department Challenge Coin.

クラムにはマトゥーン警察署のチャレンジコインが贈られた。
