Upon completion, it will accommodate larger vessels with drafts of up to 12 meters and lengths of 280 meters, significantly improving the country's trade and economic competitiveness.

The acquisition of the requisite land has been a crucial aspect of the project. The government's decision to allocate 500.72 acres at a nominal price is a testament to its commitment to the project's success. The Chattogram district administration has instructed the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) to deposit the lease charges with the Bangladesh Bank and provide receipts to finalize the land transfer.
