JAKARTA - Creativity and the spirit of working for correctional inmates received national attention during the commemoration of the 61st Correctional Service Day (HBP).

Through works of art with the theme of diversity and humanity, the inmates from various prisons in Indonesia prove that behind limitations, hope and potential still grow amid limitations.

多様性と人類をテーマにした芸術作品を通して、インドネシアのさまざまな刑務所の受刑者は、制限の背後にあることを証明しています。

The works include miniatures of the Istiqlal Mosque and Cathedral Church from recycled materials, Unity in Diversity-themed batik stola, paintings, sketches, and the installation of Polyhedra geometry were specially displayed during the historic visit of the late Pope Francis to Indonesia from 3 to 6 September 2024.

作品には、リサイクルされた素材からのイスティクラルモスクと大聖堂教会のミニチュア、多様性をテーマにしたバティックストーラの統一、絵画、スケッチ、およびポリヘドラ幾何学の設置が特別に表示されました。

The message conveyed is not just art, but also a reflection of the value of tolerance, peace, and opportunities to improve oneself.

伝えられるメッセージは、芸術だけでなく、寛容、平和、そして自分自身を改善する機会の価値を反映しています。

As a token of appreciation for this contribution, the Second Chance Foundation handed over an honorary symbol in the form of a Scholas Coin which was directly blessed by the late Pope Francis to the Minister of Immigration and Corrections of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Agus Andrianto.

この貢献に対する感謝の象徴として、セカンドチャンス財団は、インドネシア共和国の移民矯正大臣であるアグスアンドリアント氏に直接祝福されたショーラスコインの形で名誉シンボルを引き渡しました。

The handover was carried out by the founder of the Second Chance Foundation, Mrs. Evy Amir Syamsudin, in a national event watched online by all prisons, detention centers, and correctional institutions in Indonesia.

Symbolically, the submission of this coin is the culmination of the collaboration between the Directorate General of Corrections, the Second Chance Foundation, and global education organization Scholas Occurrentes. This collaboration aims to open up space for expression for inmates through an art and cultural approach that touches the human aspect.

"Through these works, the inmates have conveyed a strong message to their world not only individuals who are serving their sentences, but also people who have the potential to rise and give meaning," said Minister Agus Andrianto in his statement.

The Scholas Coin award is a symbol that every human being has the right to a second chance for a principle that becomes the basis of this art-based coaching program. Through the art medium, inmates are invited to re-identify their identity, build hope, and contribute positive value to society.

The Second Chance Foundation also expressed its gratitude for the trust and cooperation given by the Directorate General of Corrections and Scholas Occurentes. This partnership is proof that changes can start from unexpected spaces even from behind prison walls.
