Fayetteville Police Department officers Kevin Ingram and David Cagle present Spring Hill Elementary fifth grader Dan Smith with a certificate of recognition for his heroic actions. By FPD

Spring Hill Elementary fifth grader Dan Smith recently was honored by Fayetteville Police Department for his lifesaving instincts.
While eating lunch, Smith noticed that a classmate was choking on food and quickly alerted the school resource officer. For his heroic actions, Smith was awarded an FPD Challenge Coin and Certificate of Recognition.
The certificate reads, “In recognition of your quick thinking, bravery, and compassionate response in aiding a classmate in distress. Your actions serve as an inspiration to others, reminding us all the importance of looking out for one another.”
LaMecia Ali, Smith’s fifth grade teacher, says he is a remarkable student who always demonstrates kindness and a strong willingness to assist his peers, and one who consistently excells and showcases leadership qualities, both academically and personally.
“Dan embodies the spirit of a Spring Hill Sun,” said Ali. “I often refer to him as ‘Dan, The Man with a Plan’, as he is genuinely committed to the success of those around him.”
