NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION REPORTS – MAY 17

St Asaph (18) 176-10 Menai Bridge (5) 123-10
St Asaph are now the only remaining unbeaten side in the Premier after Saturday’s home victory over Menai Bridge.
The 2021 and 2023 champions won the toss and decided to bat at Elwy Park Grove, posting 176 all out off 49.4 overs.
Opener Kyle Williams made 37 and number nine Owen Sidney 33, skipper Ashley Wood claiming 3-18 and Gethin Roberts 2-34 for the visitors.
Bridge were dismissed for 123 in reply, Will Norman 2-10 and Ryan Dunning 2-24 for the hosts, who won by 53 runs and an 18-5 points margin.
Brymbo (18) 279-8 Northop (9) 278-6
Opener Chris Taylor made a maiden century and league best score of 117 for a Brymbo side which succeeded in a thrilling run chase.
Calling the coin correctly and opting to bat, visitors Northop chalked up a formidable 278-6 off 50 overs, Elliot Colclough hitting 107, Jordan Evans 34, Bart Ryan-Beswick 31 and Matthew Mullarkey 30 not out, Joe Norman taking 2-47 for the Steelmen, who used eight bowlers.
In response, the home side got to 279-8 with a ball to spare, having been 203-1.
Taylor’s ton came off 111 balls and included nine fours and four sixes, while Johandre Barnard struck 71. Taylor and Barnard put on 150 for the second wicket.
From looking like cruising to victory, Brymbo was relieved to get over the line, Colclough scooping 3-22 for the Flintshire travellers.
Denbigh (18) 74-0 Bethesda (0) 73-10
In a match which lasted just 33.1 overs, Bethesda’s difficult start to life in the Premier continued with a 10-wicket defeat at Denbigh.
Electing to bat, the visitors were skittled out for just 73 in 24.2, Andy Clarke 3-14, Harrison Jones 2-0, Ifan Jones 2-21 and Marko Van Voorst 2-26 for the hosts.
Denbigh breezed to 74-0 in 8.5 overs, Sam Lewis 33 not out and Gerallt Lyall 31 no.
Gwersyllt Park (18) 94-2 Conwy (1) 93-10
Putting Conwy into bat turned out to be a good decision by Gwersyllt Park.
The visitors were all back in the hutch for just 93, Jack Billington 3-25, Ironshan De Silva 2-0, Lewis Cole 2-18.
Gwersyllt responded with 94-2 off 16.1, Ryan Collier 38, Jake James 38 not out.
Mochdre (18) 270-7 Bangor (8) 247-9
Joe Chaplin produced a captain’s innings of 70 as champions Mochdre ended Bangor’s unbeaten record.
The hosts piled up a challenging 270-7 off 50 overs, Chaplin well supported by James French (45), Alex Davies (33) and Will Evans (30) in a good all-round batting effort, Jamie Grimshaw’s 2-59 the best return for the Citizens.
Bangor put up a good batting show, but ended up 23 short of their opponents on 247-9, Nathanael Scott 62 and Grimshaw 50, Owen Davies 3-43 and Marcus Mangiameli 2-45 for the victors.
