Brunei Darussalam recently concluded the Brunei Reef Ball School, an initiative spearheaded by SC Tubular Solutions (B) Sdn Bhd (SCTSB) to bolster marine conservation efforts in the country.

The programme culminated in the certification of 116 youth participants as Reef Ball Fabricators and Discoverers. These budding marine enthusiasts played a pivotal role in producing 60 reef balls and deploying 100 in Brunei's waters, creating artificial habitats to support coral regeneration and enhance marine biodiversity.

Moreover, a total of 642 corals were planted to further contribute to the restoration of marine ecosystems.

To amplify awareness on the importance of marine conservation, SCTSB conducted eight school talks, reaching over 1,650 students. The company also bolstered its expertise by certifying five staff as Reef Guru Coral Divers and 21 as Reef Ball Fabricators.

During the closing ceremony, Poni Group Chief Executive Officer Mohd Tahsin Wong bin Abdullah highlighted the programme's success and unveiled future plans, which include projects on fish habitats, coastal protection, and the Reef Ball Wall initiative.

“This is just the beginning of a lasting impact,” Mohd Tahsin remarked.

The event was graced by the French Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, Eve Lubin, who served as the guest of honour.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of a token of appreciation to SCTSB General Manager Phil Grant by the Reef Ball Foundation Asia Pacific for his contributions to the programme.
