How to Add Rootstock Mainnet (RSK) to MetaMask

Introduction

Rootstock (RSK) is a smart contract platform that runs in parallel with the Bitcoin blockchain. It offers the security and stability of Bitcoin while providing the functionality of Ethereum, making it an attractive option for developers and users alike.

To take advantage of RSK's capabilities, you need to add it to your MetaMask wallet. This guide will provide step-by-step instructions on how to do just that.

Step 1: Install MetaMask

If you don't already have MetaMask installed, start by downloading and installing the extension or mobile app from the official MetaMask website. This will create a new wallet for you if you don't already have one.

Step 2: Configure MetaMask

Once MetaMask is installed, you need to configure it to work with RSK. To do this, follow these steps:

  • Open MetaMask and click on the "Settings" tab.
  • Select "Networks" from the left-hand menu.
  • Click on the "Add Network" button at the top of the page.
  • Enter the following details in the fields provided:

    • Network name: Rootstock Mainnet (RSK)
    • New RPC URL: https://www.rsk.co/network-data
    • Chain ID: 30
    • Currency symbol (optional): RSK
    • Block explorer URL (optional): https://explorer.rsk.co/
  • Click the "Save" button.

Step 3: Add RSK Tokens

Once you have added the RSK network to MetaMask, you can now add RSK tokens to your wallet. To do this, follow these steps:

  • Click on the "Tokens" tab in MetaMask.
  • Click the "Add Token" button.
  • Select "Custom Token" from the dropdown menu.
  • Enter the following details in the fields provided:

    • Token Address: 0x80f59a6fe9a8a038a9d1a440f18f2fd88506654c
    • Token Symbol: RSK
    • Decimals of Precision: 18
  • Click the "Add Token" button.

Step 4: Deposit or Transfer RSK Tokens

To use RSK tokens, you need to deposit or transfer them to your MetaMask wallet. There are two ways to do this:

  • Deposit: Send RSK tokens from another wallet or exchange to your MetaMask wallet address.
  • Transfer: Transfer RSK tokens from one MetaMask wallet to another.

To deposit or transfer tokens, follow these steps:

  • Open MetaMask and click on the "Receive" tab.
  • Copy the wallet address displayed on the screen.
  • Go to the sending wallet or exchange and paste the address into the appropriate field.
  • Specify the amount of tokens you want to send and click the send button.

Step 5: Interact with RSK DApps

Once you have RSK tokens in your MetaMask wallet, you can start interacting with RSK decentralized applications (DApps). To do this, simply visit the DApp website and connect your MetaMask wallet.

When prompted, select the RSK network in MetaMask and grant the DApp permission to access your wallet. You can then use the DApp as you would any other Ethereum DApp.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You have now successfully added Rootstock Mainnet (RSK)
