How to Connect Trezor to MetaMask
1. Install and Configure MetaMask
- Download the MetaMask extension from the official website (https://metamask.io/).
- Create or import an existing Ethereum account within MetaMask.
2. Connect Trezor to MetaMask
- Firmware Update: Ensure your Trezor device is running firmware version 2.3.0 or higher.
- USB Connection: Connect your Trezor device to your computer using the provided USB cable.
- Unlock Device: Enter your PIN number on the Trezor device to unlock it.
3. Select Bridge Mode
- On the Trezor device, scroll down to the "Settings" menu and select "Enable Contract Data."
- Important Note: This step is crucial as it allows MetaMask to directly access your Trezor addresses without disclosing your private keys.
4. Allow Access in MetaMask
- Open MetaMask and click on the "Connect Hardware Wallet" option.
- Select "Trezor" from the list of supported hardware wallets.
- Device Detection: MetaMask will automatically detect your Trezor device.
- Confirmation on Device: On your Trezor device, verify that the displayed address matches the one shown in MetaMask and confirm the connection.
5. Verify Connection
- Once the connection is established, you can switch between different accounts on your Trezor device by selecting the desired account from the drop-down menu in MetaMask.
- Important: Disconnect your Trezor device from the computer when you're not actively using it to enhance security.
