The findings, reported exclusively by Bloomberg News on Sunday, have raised concerns about the maturity of stablecoins as a viable payment solution. Pranav Sood, Executive General Manager for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at Airwallex, a payment platform, commented on the data, stating, "It suggests that stablecoins are still in a very nascent stage of their evolution as a payment instrument." Sood emphasizes the importance of focusing on improving the functionality of current systems in the short to medium term before widespread adoption can be expected.

"It's a very important barrier to overcome," Sood told Bloomberg. "It's important to remember that in the U.S., people are still using checks to pay for somewhere between 40% and 60% of business payments, which gives you a sense of where the market really is when it comes to technological adoption."

For instance, Stripe announced its re-entry into the cryptocurrency payment sector last month after a six-year hiatus, with plans to support international stablecoin payments as early as this summer.
