World leading crypto exchange Binance has announced its support for the upcoming upgrade of the Optimism (OP) network, according to a Friday announcement on its official website.

As part of the preparations for the network upgrade and hard fork, which is set to take place on January 9, 2025, Binance will be temporarily suspending deposits and withdrawals on the Optimism network.

作為定於 2025 年 1 月 9 日進行的網路升級和硬分叉準備工作的一部分，幣安將暫時停止 Optimism 網路上的存款和提款。

The suspension will begin an hour before the upgrade, at 17:00 UTC on the day, to ensure a smooth transition during and after the upgrade, the exchange confirmed in the post.

While deposits and withdrawals will be paused, Binance noted that users will still be able to trade Optimism tokens (OP) as usual, meaning they can still buy, sell, and swap their tokens during this period.

In the meantime, Binance also reminded its users that the suspension is temporary, and the platform will re-open deposits and withdrawals once it is 100% sure that the upgraded network has stabilized.
