World leading crypto exchange Binance has announced its support for the upcoming upgrade of the Optimism (OP) network, according to a Friday announcement on its official website.

As part of the preparations for the network upgrade and hard fork, which is set to take place on January 9, 2025, Binance will be temporarily suspending deposits and withdrawals on the Optimism network.

The suspension will begin an hour before the upgrade, at 17:00 UTC on the day, to ensure a smooth transition during and after the upgrade, the exchange confirmed in the post.

While deposits and withdrawals will be paused, Binance noted that users will still be able to trade Optimism tokens (OP) as usual, meaning they can still buy, sell, and swap their tokens during this period.
