Binance is adding support for entertainment altcoin Sophon (SOPH) on its early-access platform, Alpha, and will also be launching a futures market for the token, the exchange announced on Thursday.

"Binance is excited to announce that Sophon (SOPH) will be available for trading on Binance Alpha at 2025-05-28 13:00 (UTC). On the same day, Binance Futures will launch SOPHUSDT Perpetual Contract with up to 50x leverage at 2025-05-28 13:30 (UTC), " the exchange wrote in an announcement.

Its Alpha platform, which is a feature of the Binance Wallet that launched in December, lets users discover emerging web3 projects in a limited-capacity testing phase before they become more widely accessible.

Sophon is an interoperable layer-2 scaling solution that is being built for the metaverse, gaming and entertainment industry. It is focused on creating new use cases for blockchain technology in preparation for the mass adoption of crypto.

Sophon's native token, SOPH, is used to pay gas fees and reward validators. It is due to launch sometime next week.
