title: Kanpur: A retired female health worker is on the brink of starvation after not receiving her pension or dues
Apr 19, 2025 at 07:26 pm
Under the banner of the Retired Employees and Pensioners Association Kanpur Nagar, a protest and memorandum submission to the District Magistrate is planned for April 22.
A retired female health worker in Kanpur is on the verge of starvation after not receiving her pension or dues, sparking outrage among pensioners.
The Retired Employees and Pensioners Association Kanpur Nagar plans to stage a protest and submit a memorandum to the District Magistrate on April 22.
Mrs. Premlata Tiwari, who retired on February 28 from the Community Health Center, Bidhnoo, has yet to receive her pension or any retirement-related financial benefits.
According to Association President B.L. Gulabiya, her family's situation has become dire.
He noted that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, three years ago on Labour Day, had announced the implementation of the e-Pension Portal.
The initiative was meant to ensure that retiring government employees receive their pension and dues on the day of retirement itself.
However, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) office in Kanpur has allegedly ignored this directive, leading to financial exploitation and harassment of retired employees, especially women.
Anand Awasthi, General Secretary of the Pension Forum, claimed that officials at the CMO office are deliberately disregarding the CM’s orders, possibly working under political pressure to malign the state government and force pensioners into protest.
Ram Rani Katiyar, president of the Women’s Cell, asserted that women will lead the protest and surround the CMO office, voicing their frustrations strongly.
The protest meeting was attended by several prominent pensioners, including Ashok Kumar Mishra, Ravindra Kumar Madhur, Chandhas Singh Chauhan (Advocate), A.K. Nigam, Subhash Bhatia, R.P. Srivastava (Advocate), Prabhat Mishra, Snehlata Lal, Durga Prasad, B.N. Pal, Mah Mohan Jha, and others.
