Temba Bavuma Wins Toss, Elects to Bowl First in World Test Championship 2025 Final

The highly anticipated World Test Championship 2025 Final between Australia and South Africa is set to take place at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground in London.

As the captains approached the umpire for the crucial coin toss, all eyes were on who would win the toss and elect to bat first, considering a interesting stat - since 2023, the side opting to bowl first at Lord's in the four completed Test matches have emerged victorious on each occasion.

After the toss, it was Temba Bavuma's South Africa who won the toss and elected to bowl first against Pat Cummins' Australia.

Here's the complete breakdown of both teams' Playing XIs:

Australia XI: Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Cameron Green, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Beau Webster, Alex Carey (wk), Pat Cummins (c), Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood.

South Africa XI: Aiden Markram, Ryan Rickelton, Wiaan Mulder, Temba Bavuma (c), Tristan Stubbs, David Bedingham, Kyle Verreynne (wk), Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi.

What Both Captains Had to Say

Temba Bavuma (South Africa Captain): "We will bowl first. The surface looks a good one. Overheads conditions dictate that we will bowl first. We will look to make inroads early on.

"Happy. I think we have selected the best team for these conditions. Massive. All of us have been confident. Being in the final, that's what we wanted to do. Should be a spectacle of a league."

Pat Cummins (Australia Captain): "We would have bat first. Looks a pretty good surface. The clouds are present but that's not too uncommon in England. The surface looks dry. We are getting straight into it.

"The preparations have been unreal. All boys are raring to go. It's been great. We are used to. From India to Australia to here, Smithy from New York. We have 10 days preparation.

"I don't think there's any extra pressure. We have been there before. It's about enjoying this week. Hopefully, we will have a great week and enjoy."
