Ripple Partners with Chipper Cash to Enhance Cross-Border Payments Across Africa
Mar 28, 2025 at 12:00 am
This collaboration aims to transform the payment landscape in the region by offering more efficient, accessible, and affordable services.
Ripple has partnered with Chipper Cash to improve cross-border payments in Africa. The partnership will see Ripple’s blockchain and XRP being used to facilitate faster and more cost-effective transactions.
The partnership aims to revolutionize the payment landscape in Africa by providing Chipper Cash's five million users with more accessible and affordable services.
The partnership will see Ripple’s blockchain technology being used to reduce friction in payments, making transactions faster and cheaper than traditional methods and providing a competitive edge in the rapidly growing digital payment market.
With RippleNet’s advanced blockchain technology, users will now be able to send and receive money globally around the clock, with significantly reduced transaction times and fees compared to traditional payment systems.
Ripple’s presence in Africa began earlier in 2023 with a partnership with Onafriq, and now the company is expanding further with Chipper Cash. The partnership will see XRP being used to facilitate seamless transactions across borders, which is particularly important in Africa, where traditional banking infrastructure is often limited.
Reece Merrick, Ripple’s regional head, said: “This partnership marks a pivotal moment in Ripple’s growth across Africa as we continue to see the rapid adoption of blockchain technology.”
Chipper Cash's CEO, Ham Serunjogi, added: "We are excited to be partnering with Ripple to introduce crypto payments to our users and how they can unlock new possibilities for financial inclusion and economic opportunity.
"We believe that crypto has the potential to transform the way people live, work and engage with the world around them. Together with Ripple, we are excited to be pushing the boundaries of financial innovation in Africa and beyond."
The partnership is a significant step in Ripple's mission to drive innovation in cross-border payments around the world. It is also a testament to the growing role of blockchain technology in shaping the future of finance, not only in Africa but across the globe.
As more companies are exploring crypto-based solutions to navigate the challenges of traditional payment systems, Ripple and Chipper Cash are poised to lead this change in the African market.
