While micro-events are happening across the Philippines that gather Pioneers, which is the name for Pi Network enthusiasts, the project's founder and head of technology
While small-scale events with Pioneers, the name for Pi Network enthusiasts, are heating up across the Philippines, one of the project’s founders and head of technology, Dr. Nicolas Kokkalis, is slated to speak at one of the industry’s major crypto conferences, Consensus 2025.
Pi Network is listed as one of the sponsors of Consensus 2025, as listed on the event’s website.
Kokkalis is also one of the event’s speakers.
A parody account of Kokkalis on X, with a username of “@drnicolas,” shared that they are offering free attendance to 100 Pioneers who will meet their condition.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to stand before the Pioneers and declare that PI will become a monument and usher in a new era in the Crypto and Blockchain industry.”
About Consensus 2025
Organized by CoinDesk, the event will take place from May 14 to 16 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto, Canada.
Consensus is noted as the longest-running digital assets conference, and it is set to attract more than 15,000 attendees.
Aside from Kokkalis, Eric Trump, the son of U.S. President Donald Trump, will be a headline speaker at the event. He will be discussing American Bitcoin, a new Bitcoin mining venture he co-founded with Hut 8, where he serves as chief strategy officer.

In February, CoinDesk also organized Consensus Hong Kong 2025, which was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event gathered global blockchain leaders, with Filipino representatives showcasing the Philippines’ presence in the crypto space.
Filipino web3 leaders who spoke and attended included Gabby Dizon of Yield Guild Games, Renz Chong of Sovrun, Leah Callon-Butler of Emfarsis, Ismael Jerusalem of SparkPoint, and Paolo Dioquino of Pendle and DeFi Philippines. Filipino project Selyo also participated in the EasyA Hackathon of the event.
Pi Network’s Open Network Phase
In February 2025, Pi entered its Open Network phase, allowing external connectivity after six years of development. It also allowed its native token, $PI, to be listed on different centralized exchanges.
In the Philippines, on March 14, 2025, more than 40 Pi Network supporters gathered at Barangay Sucat Gazebo and Park in Muntinlupa City to celebrate Pi Day with a bartering event, candle lighting, and prayers.
Attendees, mostly aged 30 and older, exchanged goods like food and clothes using a 50-50 split between fiat currency and $PI, pushing for the controversial $314,159 valuation of the Pi token. A follow-up event was held in Cavite days later.
