Mississippi Numismatic Association's Annual Coin, Currency & Card Show returns to the Coast

The Mississippi Numismatic Association’s Annual Coin, Currency & Card Show is returning to the Coast Coliseum and Convention Center in Biloxi for its 63rd year.

Coin collectors will be gathering at the Coast Coliseum and Convention Center where rare American history will be on display.

Money talks and its history is being shared, collected and made at the 63rd annual Mississippi Numismatic Association’s Coin, Currency & Card show.

Whether you’re a die-hard collector, a hobbyist or just coin-curious, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

“We have coins, we have currencies for people can see, we have jewelry, there are handmade stuff here, we have sci-fi collectibles, baseball cards, Yu Gi Oh cars, magic the dragon cards, there all here. We also have a kids table for anybody who wants to bring in their children,” said Larry Linch, who is hosting the event.

The show began Thursday, May 8th at 3 p.m. and will continue Friday, May 9th, 9 a.m. – 5p.m. Saturday, May 10th, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Admission is free.

The event is put on by the Mississippi Numismatic Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to the study and collection of coins, currency, medals and tokens.

The association was founded in 1940 and has been holding its annual coin show in Biloxi for over 60 years.

The coin show is a great opportunity to meet other coin collectors, learn about the history of coins and see some rare and valuable coins.

There will also be a variety of vendors selling coin-related products and services.

If you’re interested in learning more about coin collecting, or if you’re just looking for a fun and interesting event to attend this spring, be sure to check out the Mississippi Numismatic Association’s Annual Coin, Currency & Card Show.

Mississippi Numismatic Association Representative Kevin McCandless has been collecting coins since he was 9-years-old.

“Whenever I started, I was about 9 years old so it’s been a while. I used to sit on the floor and just go through pennies and that was back also in the day when you could find silver coins in circulation easier than you can now and I would fill my penny books, and my dime books and my quarter books and my nickel books and all the history that goes along with those.”

The story behind the coins is what’s keeping collectors coming back.

“The show is just a wonderful show to learn different things about history and some of the amazing things you’ll see here like the 500-dollar bills, 1000-dollar bills, things before you’ve never seen your life you’ll see here,” said Linch.

“It’s the artwork and history that keeps me involved in it. I’ve been looking around at some of the dealers here, they’re happy to talk to you about the coins and information about their merchandise,” McCandless said. “They’ll talk to you about the history of the coins and just communicate with other collectors to.”
