Michael Saylor Thinks the Market Collapse Is Bigger Than You Think and Bitcoin Is the Only Way Out

Michael Saylor Thinks the Market Collapse Is Bigger Than You Think and Bitcoin Is the Only Way Out

Michael Saylor, CEO of MicroStrategy, a business intelligence company listed on the Nasdaq, is a renowned figure in the world of cryptocurrencies. Saylor, who was among the first CEOs to adopt Bitcoin as a primary treasury asset, believes that Bitcoin represents a crucial form of “digital power”—as essential as traditional military power.

In a recent podcast with Altcoin Daily, Saylor discussed the recent market turbulence, which he believes is more significant than most realize. He highlighted Bitcoin’s unique position as the only global capital market that operates 24/7, even when traditional markets are closed.

According to Saylor, Bitcoin’s recent volatility is a testament to its worldwide liquidity and credit capabilities. He likened Bitcoin to natural forces such as rivers or windstorms, which can be destructive if mishandled but powerful if harnessed.

“It’s like a river. If you try to cross it at the wrong time, you’ll drown. But if you build a bridge over it, it will carry you to the other side. It’s like a windstorm. If you try to stand up in it, it will blow you away. But if you build a windmill, it will generate electricity for you,” Saylor explained.

He further predicted that Bitcoin may lose 10 or 20% over a few trading sessions. However, considering that it’s used as a store of value, he attributed Bitcoin’s fluctuations to its functionality. He described it as digital capital, superior to physical or financial capital.

“It’s a capital investment that you can hold for decades. No corporation, competitor, counterparty, or country can take it away from you. It’s yours forever,” Saylor said.

Despite the market fear surrounding Bitcoin’s volatility, Saylor urges investors to view it as a feature, not a flaw. He believes that Bitcoin’s volatility is inherent to its nature as a capital asset.

“It’s not a bug; it’s a feature. It’s supposed to do that. It’s a capital asset. It’s digital capital. It’s not financial capital. It’s not physical capital. It’s digital capital,” he added.

Four years ago, Saylor made a bold move by adopting Bitcoin as MicroStrategy’s primary treasury reserve asset. Since then, the company has outperformed nearly all of the S&P 500 stocks, holding over a quarter-million Bitcoins valued at $1.13 billion. In addition to the company, Saylor himself owns a substantial personal stake in Bitcoin.

While Saylor is not permitted to endorse specific political candidates, he highlighted the importance of any nation or leader who understands the significance of digital assets. He suggests that Bitcoin will play a crucial role in future elections and that political leaders must recognize its importance to ensure their country’s competitiveness on the world stage.

Despite the market’s ups and downs, Saylor’s faith in Bitcoin remains strong. He continues to invest heavily, both personally and through MicroStrategy, confident that Bitcoin’s value will only increase over time. His approach is simple: embrace the volatility, understand the long-term potential, and accumulate Bitcoin as a vital form of digital capital.

“I don’t care what happens to the price of Bitcoin next week, next month, or next year. I’m buying it every chance I get and holding it as hard as I can. I’m not selling any Bitcoin. I’m not interested in trading Bitcoin. I’m accumulating Bitcoin to the best of my ability, personally and corporately,” Saylor concluded.
