Is MEXC Manipulating KAS Price? Top Kaspa Analyst Warns
May 15, 2025 at 02:00 pm
Kaspa analyst Kaspa Daily is once again sounding the alarm over suspicious activity on MEXC. The exchange might be artificially inflating the price of KAS.

Kaspa analyst Kaspa Daily is once again raising concerns over suspicious activity on MEXC. In a recent post, the analyst noted that KAS is trading at a higher price on MEXC compared to other major exchanges like Bybit and Gate.io. This consistent price difference, especially during periods of low arbitrage flow, is raising eyebrows in the Kaspa community.
Several possible reasons for this price gap on MEXC have been discussed. It could be due to a liquidity imbalance on the exchange, as there might not be enough Kaspa available for sale, naturally driving up the KAS price.
Another factor could be the withdrawal issues that MEXC is frequently facing. Users have reported slow or completely frozen Kaspa withdrawals, which might force traders to buy and sell within the platform, especially when considering the significant price discrepancies between exchanges.
However, what's really concerning is the third point raised by Kaspa Daily: possible market manipulation. The analyst suggests that the lack of arbitrage flow and the persistent price premium could be signs of artificial price inflation. This could be an attempt to make Kaspa appear stronger or more in-demand than it really is, particularly on MEXC.
This isn't the first time Kaspa watchers have brought up issues with MEXC's influence on the Kaspa price. Several incidents point to deeper issues. For instance, during a major KAS price rally, MEXC froze wallet operations just when demand was high. At the same time, Kaspa's daily active supply dropped by 85%, meaning traders couldn't move their KAS off the exchange. This left them stranded, unable to respond to market changes.
Furthermore, activity in MEXC's order books shows large sell orders appearing precisely when the KAS price was rising. These orders weren't getting filled and seemed to vanish as quickly as they appeared, a behavior aligning with the tactic of spoofing. This technique involves traders placing significant orders they never intend to execute to exert pressure on the market and influence price movements.
MEXC has also placed restrictions on withdrawals for extended periods, sometimes lasting over a week. While the exchange attributes this to wallet maintenance, many in the community find the timing suspicious. Such lengthy withdrawal freezes can significantly affect Kaspa's market liquidity and negatively impact trader confidence.
MEXC has denied manipulating the Kaspa price, attributing all market movements to regular trading activity. In March 2024, the exchange even announced that it had identified and banned several trading groups involved in engaging in harmful practices like spoofing and self-trading. However, despite these claims, the evidence continues to pour in.
Independent observers and data analysts, including those at Kaspalytics, have documented concerning trends in their analysis. From the strategic placement of large orders to the prolonged holds on withdrawals, the actions appear coordinated and calculated.
Kaspa Daily and other community members are urging traders to be extremely cautious when using MEXC for KAS trades, especially in light of the persistent price difference and the potential implications for fair market valuation.
The Kaspa community is keeping a close eye on the situation as the question remains: is MEXC truly reflecting the real market value of KAS, or is something else at play in the skewed price trends on MEXC?
