JPMorgan Chase has executed its first transaction on a public blockchain, settling tokenized U.S. Treasuries using its Kinexys platform

JPMorgan Chase has completed its inaugural transaction on a public blockchain, settling tokenized U.S. Treasuries. The transaction was carried out using Kinexys, JPMorgan's blockchain platform, which linked with Ondo Finance's public blockchain via Chainlink's technology.
The transaction involved Ondo Finance's Short-Term U.S. Government Treasuries Fund (OUSG), a tokenized fund investing in short-term U.S. debt. The transaction showcased the capabilities of Ondo Chain for broader scaling of real-world asset tokenization.
Chainlink, Kinexys by JPMorgan, and Ondo Finance collaborated to facilitate a cross-chain Delivery versus Payment (DvP) transaction. This involved using Chainlink’s cross-chain infrastructure to connect Kinexys' private blockchain with Ondo Finance's public Ondo Chain, enabling the final settlement of OUSG.
Chainlink's technology streamlined the transaction, automating DvP, which typically poses a key challenge in cross-chain transactions. In traditional finance, DvP is crucial for mitigating settlement risks, such as one party delivering funds without receiving assets in return.
The transaction also highlighted the increasing integration of traditional finance with decentralized finance (DeFi). Major financial institutions are exploring blockchain solutions for asset management, settlement, and other financial operations.
OUSG, a digital representation of government debt, is used in crypto markets by institutional investors for efficient yield generation and liquidity management. The fund is part of Ondo’s broader strategy to bring new levels of capital efficiency to crypto through tokenized derivatives.
