Coinbase and Stripe have announced a new partnership to bring Base to millions of businesses. Here are the key integrations.
Coinbase is partnering with Stripe to bring Base to millions of businesses. Here’s how.
“Coinbase is partnering with @stripe to bring @base to millions of businesses around the world. Here’s what we’re doing..”
Coinbase explained in a series of tweets that their shared mission is to improve the financial system.
Specifically, Stripe is adding support for Base, the layer-2 blockchain of Coinbase, as a first step towards this goal. The partnership includes three main integrations.
The first integration is Stripe adding support for USD Coin (USDC) as part of their crypto payments, enabling faster cross-border remittances and fiat equivalent settlements in 150 sovereign nations.
Moreover, Stripe will be adding USDC to their on-ramp, fiat-to-crypto, as part of the partnership, making it easier for customers to convert fiat into digital assets.
On the other hand, Coinbase is adding Stripe to the fiat-to-crypto conversion portal of Coinbase Wallet, allowing people to purchase cryptocurrencies instantly with credit cards and Apple Pay.
Coinbase and Stripe are also partnering to help builders and developers.
notably, the partnership also includes initiatives for builders and developers.
Specifically, the partnership includes the Base Buildathon, which will teach builders how to use Stripe’s features for cryptocurrencies on Base.
Furthermore, Stripe will be sponsoring the Payments track of the ‘Onchain Summer Buildathon’ by Coinbase in June.
“@stripe is sponsoring the Payments track of @coinbase Onchain Summer. From May 31 to June 30, build a payment experience for consumers and show us how easy it is for anyone to get on onchain.”
Coinbase is the first crypto brand in the ranking to be used as a scam.
notably, Coinbase was recently included in a ranking of US brands that scammers use most frequently for their scams.
Coinbase is the first crypto brand to be used for scams, with 416 frauds in its name over 4 years.
This is significantly lower than the non-crypto brands in the United States, such as Meta, which was used in 10,457 scams.
In the “banking and finance” category, the number one brand that was hit the hardest by scammers is JCB, with over 14,000 scams in its name. However, popular brands like PayPal, Mastercard, and Visa were each hit with over 1,000 scams.
