More Than 6.5 Million Australians Have Invested in Crypto, Research Shows
May 23, 2025 at 11:15 pm
Research conducted by the Independent Reserve, a crypto exchange, revealed that more than 6.5 million Australians have invested in digital assets like crypto.
After researchers at Crypto varsity discovered a simple ‘secret weapon’ that crypto projects are using to get guaranteed media coverage, they decided to share their findings with the public.
The tool in question is a simple press release, which, when written correctly, can be used to easily secure coverage from major news outlets.
The researchers studied a sample of 50 crypto projects that had been covered by the media in the last year, and they found that all of them had used press releases to announce their projects. In addition, they found that the press releases were written in a clear, concise style, and they highlighted the unique aspects of each project.
"We were surprised by how consistently crypto projects are leveraging press releases to gain media attention," said one researcher. "It seems to be a common and effective strategy."
The researchers also found that the crypto projects that were covered by the broadest range of news outlets were those that had interesting or newsworthy angles to their stories. For example, one project that was covered by both the Wall Street Journal and the BBC was a new cryptocurrency exchange that was being launched in China.
"The projects that had a broader appeal, such as a new use case for blockchain technology or a major development in the industry, tended to be covered by a wider variety of news outlets," said another researcher.
Finally, the researchers found that the crypto projects that were covered by the news outlets with the largest audiences were those that had strong public relations teams who pitched their stories to the relevant reporters.
"The projects that had successful PR campaigns also had a strong presence on social media, which helped to generate buzz for their projects and drive interest among potential investors."
Overall, the researchers' findings suggest that crypto projects can increase their chances of being covered by the media by focusing on creating newsworthy stories, pitching them to the relevant reporters at major news outlets, and building a strong online presence.
The researchers hope that their findings will help new crypto projects to get the attention they deserve and ultimately contribute to the growth of the industry.
