Actor Hwang Jung-eum, who is serving as the MC for entertainment program "Solo Rider", is in the midst of editing as she was accused of embezzlement of 4.3 billion won and stands trial.

The first trial of Hwang Jung-eum's alleged violation of the law on the aggravated punishment of certain economic crimes was held at the hearing of senior judge Lim Jae-nam of the Jeju District Court on the 15th.

Hwang Jung-eum was indicted without detention early last year for allegedly embezzling 4.34 billion won in company money by December 2022, including investing 700 million won in virtual currency in the name of provisional payments from his agency.

When this was revealed, Hwang Jung-eum admitted to the charges and apologized, saying, "I'm sorry for causing a lot of people to worry about something shameful.”

"When I had a desire to grow the company, around 2021, I was encouraged by people around me to raise the company's funds through coin investment, and I jumped into a coin investment that I didn't know well. It was a fund in the name of the company, but I think I made an inexperienced judgment because it was a profit made from my activities."

"Although I lost money due to the coin investment, it is fortunate that I have 100% of the company's shares, no other celebrities, and no other creditors other than banks that have secured collateral. We have repaid a large portion of the funds we withdrew from the company in the form of provisional payments by disposing of our personal assets, and we are in the process of liquidating some outstanding payments," she said.

As Hwang Jung-eum admitted to the allegations, SBS Plus and E-channel's co-production entertainment "Solo Rae", where she is appearing as an MC, was in a difficult situation. The last filming was recently held ahead of the 20th installment, but it is on the verge of being edited in full.

With an official of "Solo Rider" announcing on Mail Business Star Today on the 16th that it is "in internal discussions" regarding whether Hwang Jung-eum will be edited, attention is focusing on what final decision the production team will make.

Meanwhile, Hwang Jung-eum, who debuted as a girl group Sugar in 2002, later turned into an actor and appeared in MBC sitcoms "High Kick Through the Roof", SBS "Giant", MBC "Kill Me Heal Me" and "She Was Pretty".
