How to Close a Position in DigiFinex Contract Trading
Contract trading is a form of derivatives trading in which the trader agrees to buy or sell an underlying asset at a predetermined price and date. DigiFinex is a cryptocurrency exchange that offers several contract trading options, including perpetual contracts and futures contracts.
Closing a position in contract trading refers to the process of liquidating an existing contract, either a long or short position. Determining which position to close will depend on your existing position and desired trading outcome.
Steps to Close a Position in DigiFinex Contract Trading
1. Log in to Your DigiFinex Account:
- Visit the DigiFinex website and log in to your trading account.
- If you do not have an account, you can create one by clicking on the "Sign Up" button.
2. Navigate to the Contract Trading Page:
- Once logged in, hover over the "Trade" tab and select "Contract" from the drop-down menu.
- This will open up the contract trading interface where you can manage your positions.
3. Select Your Contract:
- On the left side of the trading interface, you will see a list of available contract markets.
- Choose the contract that you want to close your position in.
4. Check Your Position:
- Once you have selected the contract, you will see your open positions listed on the right side of the screen.
- You can determine which positions are open by checking the "Position" column.
5. Choose the Close Option:
- To close a position, click on the "Close" button located next to the position you want to liquidate.
- This will open up a confirmation window, where you can review the details of the transaction.
6. Specify the Close Parameters:
In the confirmation window, you will need to specify the following parameters:
- Close Position: Enter the number of contracts you want to close.
- Close Price: Specify the price at which you want to close the position.
- Order Type: Select the order type you want to use to close the position (e.g., Market Order, Limit Order).
7. Place the Closing Order:
- Once you have entered the necessary parameters, click on the "Close" button.
- DigiFinex will execute the order and close your position.
8. Monitor the Execution:
- You can monitor the execution of your order by checking the "Order History" tab in the contract trading interface.
- The order will be marked as "Executed" once the position has been fully closed.
Considerations When Closing a Position
- Market Conditions: Consider the current market conditions and how they might affect the price of the underlying asset.
- Profitability: Calculate your potential profit or loss before closing a position to ensure that you are making an informed decision.
- Risk Management: Always manage your risk by setting stop-loss and take-profit orders to limit potential losses.
- Fees: Be aware of any fees associated with closing a position, such as transaction fees and potential liquidation penalties.
