A delegation from United Sikh Students Federation (USSF) and Rah-e-Umeed Foundation met Education Minister Sakina Ittoo on Sunday to discuss the safety and well-being of students from Jammu & Kashmir currently studying in Punjab.

The delegation, led by Jugraj Singh Majhail, provided a detailed report to the minister on the steps both Rah-e-Umeed and the USSF have been taking to ensure the safety, dignity, and academic continuity of the affected students in the wake of the recent terrorist incident in Pahalgam, where 26 innocent civilians lost their lives.

During the discussion, Jugraj Singh Majhail highlighted the need for allowing students to remain in Punjab so they can continue their studies without any hindrance, especially during the ongoing examination season. The delegation members also expressed their deep concern over any directives that may be given to students to return to Kashmir at this sensitive time.

“Our priority should be the mental and physical well-being of the students. Forcing them to travel under duress could jeopardize not only their safety but also their academic performance,” Majhail said.

To assure the government, the delegation stated that students remaining in Punjab will be provided with comfortable accommodation, food, counseling services, and round-the-clock security measures. Both organizations are committed to leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that students are provided with the best possible care and support during these times.
