Are Media, Australia’s leading omnichannel content company for women and the publisher of The Australian Women’s Weekly, has partnered with the Royal Australian Mint and newsXpress to mark the 45th anniversary of one of the nation’s most treasured cultural touchstones: The Australian Women’s Weekly Children’s Birthday Cake Book.

In a tribute to the much-loved cookbook that has shaped generations of family celebrations since it was first published in 1980, the Mint has released a special limited-edition coin collection honouring 12 of the book’s most iconic cakes. From the jelly-filled swimming pool to the unforgettable choo-choo train and the iconic rubber ducky duck cake, each coin captures the magic, creativity and memories synonymous with The Weekly’s impact on Australian childhoods.

The Weekly’s broader campaign runs from May to August and will also include a multi-platform influencer series launching on TikTok, featuring household names like Edwina Bartholomew, Jessica Rowe and Julie Goodwin sharing their fondest memories of growing up with the book and recreating their favourite cakes.

The 2025 coin series includes 11 $1 coins and one $2 coloured coin available in a range of collectible formats, from a proof coin inserted into a commemorative hardcover edition of The Australian Women’s Weekly Children’s Birthday Cake Book, to a 12-coin recipe card collection. The coins will be available from participating newsXpress stores, the Mint’s online store, and through select distributors.
