Layer-2 platform ZKsync (ZK) has seen a massive drop in network activity over the last few months, hitting its lowest point so far this year. The protocol is experiencing a sharp decrease in user demand, evident in the decline of daily active addresses and total value locked (TVL), which has fallen to levels last seen in April 2023.

After a period of relative stability in June, user demand for ZKsync began to decline on June 23. The seven-day moving average of daily active addresses has since dropped by 66%. This decrease in active addresses has resulted in a significant reduction in the number of daily transactions on the ZKsync network. On July 23, the number of completed transactions fell to its lowest level of the year, recording 293,000 transactions.

The decline in activity is not only seen in less user interaction with the platform for activities like NFT trading or participation in the DeFi economy but also in a fall in TVL. While other networks have seen an increase in TVL due to the recent market rally, ZKsync has shown a contrasting trend. Currently, the network’s TVL stands at $96 million.
