The Royal Canadian Mint is rolling out a new $2 coin that celebrates Inuit Nunangat, the homeland of the Inuit people in the Arctic.

The coin, which is available for purchase at the mint in Winnipeg on Friday, features the spirit of the sea on the reverse side, swimming along animals that were used by the Inuit for food and resources.

The animals depicted on the coin include a seal, Arctic char, walrus, narwhal, and a pair of belugas.

On the outer rim of the coin, each artist put a “regionally specific ulu,” which is a cutting tool that features a semi-circle blade.

The coin also includes the phrase Inuit Nunangat.
