In a bold move to streamline its blockchain ecosystem, BNB Chain has announced plans to integrate native liquid staking into its BNB Smart Chain (BSC). This strategic shift aligns with the organization's roadmap to migrate the BNB Beacon Chain's functionalities to BSC, phasing out the latter by June 2024.

"The implementation aligns with the sunset of the BNB Chain Fusion, streamlining the network, improving efficiency, reducing security risks, and matching current technological demands," stated the BNB Chain core development team in an exclusive statement to Cointelegraph.

Liquid staking empowers ecosystem participants to bolster network security while preserving the liquidity of their assets. Unlike traditional staking, where users must lock their tokens for an extended period, liquid staking allows them to stake their crypto assets and receive representative liquid staking tokens in return.

"Liquidity staking not only rewards BNB stakers but also enhances security for the BNB Chain network. It offers BNB holders increased flexibility in staking their assets and more options for staking BNB," the team explained.

Users can delegate their BNB tokens to a liquidity pool or directly to a validator, enabling them to participate in decentralized finance (DeFi) activities without compromising the utility of their assets. Liquidity provider tokens received in return can be utilized for various activities within the ecosystem.

BNB Chain has scheduled the rollout of liquid staking for April or May, coinciding with the introduction of maximum extractable value (MEV) optimization for validators.

"Validators with MEV enabled will have the opportunity to boost their staking returns through MEV revenue, which will ultimately be factored into Liquidity Staking rewards," the team noted.
