Paris Saint-Germain has teamed up with blockchain data company Matchain to create PlayerID, a new platform designed to revolutionize the way professional athlete data is handled, kicking off a new era in data management.

The platform, which is still in the testing phase, aims to create a secure digital identity for each athlete, collecting their career data into one powerful AI-powered platform. This system will allow athletes to manage their own data, deciding who has access and for what purpose.

A core concept is granting athletes complete ownership and control over their data. This stands in contrast to traditional systems, where data is often compartmentalized or retained by teams and leagues.
