The United Kingdom’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has warned UK citizens against the Solana-based memecoin Retardio, highlighting unauthorized financial promotions. The warning comes as part of the FCA’s ongoing efforts to protect consumers from the risks associated with engaging in unapproved financial activities.

英国の金融行動監視機構（FCA）は、無許可の金融プロモーションを強調し、ソラナを拠点とするミームコイン「リターディオ」に対して英国国民に警告した。この警告は、未承認の金融活動への関与に伴うリスクから消費者を守るFCAの継続的な取り組みの一環として行われた。

On Dec. 16, the FCA flagged the Retardio token, built on Solana, for potentially offering financial services without authorization. The regulator urged consumers to deal only with FCA-approved firms to ensure financial safety and protection.

FCAは12月16日、Solana上に構築されたRetardioトークンに、無許可で金融サービスを提供する可能性があるとして警告を発した。規制当局は消費者に対し、財務上の安全性と保護を確保するため、FCAが承認した企業とのみ取引するよう呼び掛けた。

Retardio is connected to an NFT project that reportedly achieved $31 million in lifetime sales, as per CryptoSlam. Meanwhile, the Retardio token, trading at $0.08, has a market capitalization of approximately $87 million, according to Dexscreener.

CryptoSlam によると、Retardio は、生涯売上高 3,100 万ドルを達成したと伝えられる NFT プロジェクトに関連しています。一方、Dexscreener氏によると、0.08ドルで取引されているRetardioトークンの時価総額は約8700万ドルだという。

The FCA statement emphasized that consumers engaging with unauthorized projects like Retardio do not have access to the Financial Ombudsman Service, which helps settle disputes between consumers and financial firms. Moreover, investors are not protected under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), which compensates consumers when authorized financial firms collapse.

The agency urged consumers to verify firms through its official registry and report unauthorized financial promotions via official FCA channels.

In response to the FCA’s warning, the Retardio project humorously “issued a warning against the UK’s financial regulator.” However, the FCA’s message remains clear regarding the risks involved in engaging in unregulated financial activities.

As the Web3 ecosystem continues to grow, memecoins like Retardio have been garnering significant attention. According to Yat Siu, Chairman of Animoca Brands, memecoins essentially reflect the value of user attention.
