The Pectra upgrade, also known as the Prague/Electra combined upgrade, marks a significant milestone for Ethereum. It brings together 11 Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs), making it the largest update in EIP count.

One of the biggest impacts will be felt across the layer 2 ecosystem. EIP-7691 doubles the blob space and increases the maximum from 6 to 9. This directly lowers gas fees for users on rollups.

The upgrade’s EIPs also introduce smart accounts, enabling advanced wallet functionalities like batch transactions and sponsored gas fees.
