Wrexham stars 'trapped in lift for hour' after celebrating wild party laid on by Ryan Reynolds

Wrexham's players were left stranded in a lift for around an hour after kicking off their end of season trip to Las Vegas with a pool party and night out.

The Dragons, who had been propelled to the Championship after securing second place in League One last month and another promotion, were left stuck in a lift for about an hour during their celebratory bash in the city, insiders have reported.

The players jetted out to the U.S. to celebrate their achievement on Thursday aboard a private plane and, per The Sun, began their revelries with a splash at a pool party.

However, the mood dampened when a few overzealous squad members caused a lift to halt abruptly due to their high-spirited jumping antics.

A source said: “After leaving there, the players went back to the Bellagio Hotel to get ready before heading to Hakkasan Nightclub.

“They’d been drinking all day and were a bit over-excited when they got in the lift to go up to the entrance of the club on the fourth floor.

“They started messing around by jumping up and down. Next thing they knew, the lift came to an abrupt stop and would no longer move. They ended up having a sobering hour-long wait for firefighters to help get them out.”

Wrexham's annual Las Vegas trip has become a staple under the stewardship of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, with the club climbing from the National League to the Championship in just three years thanks to successive promotions.

Paul Mullin spilled the beans to GQ in May 2023 about the owners' generosity, revealing: "It became a thing where if we won the league, we'd get a holiday. So we're off to Vegas.

"Ryan and Rob told us to leave our cards at home, they're sorting the lot. They sent us a full itinerary just now."

After promotion to the Championship was secured last month, Reynolds said: “I feel at home here. It’s a place that values community, decency and history. It isn’t just a place with a history of ups and downs, it’s also a FEELING. And a feeling is sometimes as good or better than a memory.

“I remember the first press conference, we were asked what our goals were… and I think Rob jumped in with, ‘The Premiere League'. People laughed. They had every right to. It seemed insane… But we weren’t kidding.”
