2025-W Uncirculated American Gold Eagle and Dr. Vera Rubin Quarter Mark New Products

The United States Mint released sales figures for its numismatic products through the week ending June 8, offering the first results for the new 2025-W $50 Uncirculated American Gold Eagle and the latest products featuring the Dr. Vera Rubin quarter.

The Dr. Vera Rubin quarter marks the eighteenth installment in the U.S. Mint’s four-year, 20-coin series honoring the accomplishments of American women. It is the third release of 2025 and the third-to-last coin in the program. In its opening days, combined sales of rolls and bags containing the new quarter reached 1,522,940 coins.

For comparison, this year’s first quarter, honoring Ida B. Wells, opened with sales of 1,695,920 coins, while the second, celebrating Juliette Gordon Low, began with 1,818,780. Among last year’s releases, initial sales were higher across the board: the 2024 quarters honoring Celia Cruz, Dr. Mary Edwards Walker, Patsy Takemoto Mink, Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray, and Zitkala-Ša recorded opening figures of 1,925,500; 1,887,760; 1,919,240; 2,010,460; and 1,670,720 coins, respectively

Each of these totals reflects a slower start than those of any 2023 quarter, whose debut sales ranged from 2,141,420 for Maria Tallchief to 2,745,380 for Bessie Coleman.

Sales Debut of 2025-W $50 Uncirculated American Gold Eagle

For the uncirculated Gold Eagle, opening sales reached 1,318 coins – an improvement over last year, though still among the slower starts in the product line’s history. Notably, this year’s coin opened $1,000 higher at $4,170, compared to last year’s launch price of $3,170.

Below is a look at initial sales figures for the series dating back to 2011:

Sales Appear for 250th Anniversary Army 2025-W Proof American Silver Eagle

Elsewhere, the Mint’s weekly sales data included a total of 10,170 for the upcoming privy-marked 250th Anniversary Army 2025-W Proof American Silver Eagle. Pre-sales for the collectible begin on Friday, June 13, at noon ET. It is not unusual for the Mint’s weekly sales reports to show early figures for upcoming releases, though they typically reflect orders claimed through subscriptions. The proof Silver Eagle has a mintage limit of 100,000 and an initial household order limit of one, recently reduced from three.

U.S. Mint Top Sellers

Excluding the new releases, the Mint’s top four sellers for the week would have remained unchanged from the previous report, led by the 2025 Proof Set, followed by the 2025-W Proof Silver Eagle, the 2025-P Proof U.S. Marine Corps 250th Anniversary Silver Dollar, and the 2025 Congratulations Set.

Below is the roster of the U.S. Mint’s most sought-after numismatic products for the week ending June 8:

In its latest report, the U.S. Mint published sales data for 561 numismatic products. Of those, 120 outperformed their prior weekly totals, up from 98 in the previous report. Two products saw a week-over-week gains of more than 1,000 units, the same as in the earlier period.

Meanwhile, four products recorded modest sales declines, compared to 11 the previous week. The sharpest loss came from the individually sold 2025-W Uncirculated Silver Eagle, which fell by 1,191 to 69,820. That follows a drop of 610 a week earlier, marking two straight weeks of declining sales.
