TON Network Is Shutting Down Its Toncoin Bridge on May 10, 2025

Apr 26, 2025 at 07:04 pm

TON is announcing the end of the Toncoin Bridge on May 10, 2025. After that date, you won't be able to bridge Toncoin between the TON network and Ethereum or BNB Smart Chain anymore.

TON Network Is Shutting Down Its Toncoin Bridge on May 10, 2025

After 4 years and 100M+ $TON bridged, Toncoin Bridge is retiring. May 10, 2025, marks the final day for bridging $TON to Ethereum or BNB Chain.

Claims from past transfers will remain open, and inbound bridging continues for now.

Toncoin Bridge was crucial in the early days of TON, especially before Toncoin was listed on centralized exchanges (CEXs) and DeFi wasn’t a thing on TON. The bridge was the main tool to transfer Toncoin to Ethereum or BNB Smart Chain.

This allowed users to trade it for other tokens on platforms like Uniswap and PancakeSwap. Even after Toncoin arrived on CEXs, the bridge remained the primary way to access decentralized exchanges (DEXs) until TON launched its own DEX. It also enabled the use of wrapped assets like jUSDT.

Now, with a thriving ecosystem of DEXs, cross-chain platforms like LayerZero, Stargate, and Symbiosis, and a booming DeFi scene on TON itself, there’s less need for users to leave the TON network to use or trade Toncoin.

The retirement of the bridge marks a natural evolution of TON. As the network grows, it’s focusing more on newer, scalable cross-chain solutions, aiming for better security and a smoother experience.

For users who have already bridged Toncoin to Ethereum or BNB Smart Chain, there’s no change—their assets will remain claimable even after May 10.

Currently, users can still bridge Toncoin into TON, but that option will be phased out later. Stay tuned for updates on the remaining timeline.

A Look Back at the Bridge’s Journey

The Toncoin Bridge played a key role in establishing TON’s ecosystem. Here’s a brief overview:

Launch Dates:

Bridge Stats:

Wrapped Toncoin Activity:

As the bridge winds down, the cross-chain platforms will be returning the liquidity to the mainnet in batches. Bridge oracles will also begin withdrawing their staked TON in accordance with the terms of the oracle program. All processes will proceed smoothly and orderly.

Stay tuned for further updates on token transfer procedures.
