SOL Strategies Inc. Explores Tokenizing Its Equity on Solana
May 09, 2025 at 06:05 am

Toronto-based company SOL Strategies Inc. (CSE: HODL) (OTCQB: CYFRF) announced plans to explore tokenizing its equity on the Solana blockchain in a non-binding partnership with financial technology firm Superstate, potentially making it the first public company to do so.
The company, which is listed on the CSE and trades in the U.S. on OTCQB, disclosed the partnership in a press statement on April 25. It signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Superstate to assess the latter’s ‘Opening Bell’ platform.
The platform from Superstate aims to collect capital and liquidity in a single, continuous process, with the goal of facilitating the issuance and trading of SEC-registered public equities on a blockchain. This would be done in a way that is fully compliant with U.S. securities laws, enabling capabilities such as real-time settlement and interoperability with decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols.
As part of the agreement, Superstate would act as a junior transfer agent, providing the infrastructure to tokenize SOL Strategies’ common shares. The company is currently engaging with relevant parties to advise on the integration of its capital structure within the Opening Bell platform.
Commenting on the partnership, SOL Strategies CEO Leah Wald said: “We are always looking for new and innovative ways to expand our reach and create value for our shareholders.
“We are interested in exploring the potential for tokenized public equity on Solana as it aligns with our goal to contribute to the advancement of capital markets. We believe that Solana’s high-performance network makes it the ideal foundation for the future of capital markets, with the potential to open up new avenues for capital formation and expand access for a wider range of investors around the world.”
No shares of SOL Strategies have been or will be sold in connection with the partnership, and there is no immediate plan to convert any existing equity or issue derivative tokens. The partnership is still subject to regulatory developments, and SOL Strategies has yet to engage securities regulators or the CSE.
The company noted that it will keep stakeholders informed of any material developments in discussions with Superstate. However, there is no certainty that the partnership will progress beyond the exploratory stage.
SOL Strategies, formerly known as Cypherpunk Holdings Inc., is focused on building critical institutional-grade infrastructure for the Solana ecosystem. Meanwhile, Superstate is an applied technology firm specializing in modernizing capital markets through blockchain integration.
The partnership comes amid growing interest in tokenized securities, which are seen as having the potential to revolutionize the way capital is raised and traded. Earlier this year, the SEC approved the first two ETFs that invest in bitcoin futures, paving the resilience for more crypto-related products to come to market.
