Teddy the dog seems to spend half his life looking for his lost ball. And somehow it's my fault too

People usually have one "safe" place where they put something important. Maybe it’s a document, a rare coin, or a snack for tomorrow that they don’t want their family to eat. But sometimes, that “safe” place turns out to open a wormhole to an unknown dimension in time and space.

At least, that’s according to viewers on TikTok, who pointed out that Abby Treece’s dog, Teddy, seems to spend half his life looking for his lost ball. And somehow it’s my fault too #dogsoftiktok

On this day, he has once again chosen to hide his ball in the safest, safest place: In the marvelous sands of Newport Beach in Orange County, California. And of course, his super-duper dog olfactory senses cannot overcome the gritty, overwhelming persistence of the sand to locate the lost ball. When Abby looked out to check on him, she saw what he was doing and began laughing.

Teddy stopped his pursuit of happiness and offered his mom the most human-like response ever recorded on a dog’s face. We’re unsure if Teddy is used to being laughed at or is truly “done” with his Mom at this point. That expression and his disheveled appearance convey the weariness of a centuries-long, endless pursuit of a golden fruit that never existed.

Perhaps the most amusing part is that it is a daily occurrence. It makes you wonder if the joke about the one shared brain cell is true. Sometimes, Teddy has trouble finding his ball when he hides it in plain sight.
