Sei (SEI) Price Prediction 2023 – Is There Room for a Rebound?
Aug 22, 2024 at 01:00 am
The Sei [SEI] token, once riding high at a peak price of $1.14 in March, has seen a significant downturn in recent months.

The price of Sei (SEI) has taken a hit since its peak of $1.14 in March, with the token now trading at $0.2648. This marks a 74% drop from SEI’s highest point.
The decline is part of a broader downtrend that has seen SEI lose almost 10% of its value over the past week. In the last 24 hours alone, SEI’s price has dropped by 3.3%.
However, crypto analyst Michaël van de Poppe believes that SEI could be preparing to make a move. He has identified the $0.30 level as a ‘crucial resistance' point for the token.
If SEI manages to break through this resistance, it could pave the way for a significant upward move, potentially pushing the token’s price to $0.45.
But to understand whether SEI is really set for such a breakout, we need to examine the token’s fundamentals and the factors that could be influencing its price.
SEI’s price is influenced by a range of factors, including the token’s utility, network activity, and the broader market conditions.
As a decentralized exchange (DEX) token, SEI’s primary use case is to facilitate transactions on the Sei network. The demand for DEX services and the volume of trades executed on Sei can impact the token’s price.
Moreover, the level of network development and community engagement also plays a role in determining SEI’s price trajectory.
The speed at which the Sei network evolves, introduces new features, and expands its ecosystem can influence the token’s value.
Additionally, the overall health and performance of the cryptocurrency market at large can have a significant effect on SEI’s price.
While the potential for a bullish breakout exists, SEI’s price analysis presents a more nuanced picture. Data from Coinglass shows that SEI Open Interest has been mirroring the token’s price action, declining to indicate a possible waning investor confidence.
Over the past 24 hours, SEI Open Interest has dropped by around 23.72%, bringing its press time valuation to $70.50 million.
Similarly, the Open Interest volume has decreased by 5.40%, press time valuation is at $58.60 million.
This decline in Open Interest and volume suggests that traders are becoming more cautious, perhaps due to the continuing price erosion.
Open interest, which reflects the total number of outstanding contracts in the Futures market, is often used to gauge market sentiment.
A decrease in Open Interest, especially during a downtrend, can indicate that fewer traders are willing to maintain or open new positions, potentially leading to reduced liquidity and further price drops.
If SEI is to reverse its current trend, it would likely require a resurgence in open interest, signaling renewed trader interest and confidence.
In addition to the declining Open Interest, SEI’s network development activity has also been trending down.
According to data from Santiment, SEI development activity has dropped sharply from a peak above 13 in March to below two as of press time.
Development activity is a metric that tracks the progress of a project’s codebase and overall ecosystem development.
A decline in this metric can be a red flag, suggesting reduced innovation and project updates, which can, in turn, affect investor sentiment and long-term confidence in the asset.
