The price of the Barsbek - Kagan of the Kyrgyz coin has jumped sixfold

A collectible coin that has long been out of circulation at the National Bank has appeared on sale on Lalafo. This has affected its value, which has jumped sixfold.

The silver collector coin “Barsbek - Kagan of the Kyrgyz” from the “Era of the Kyrgyz Kaganate” series with a face value of 10 som is now available for 12,000 KGS. It was officially issued by the National Bank in 2014 in honor of Kyrgyzstan's Independence Day and is no longer available for sale from the issuer.

The coin depicts a Kyrgyz warrior on horseback. It is dedicated to the Kyrgyz khagan who contributed to the formation and strengthening of Kyrgyz statehood. In the background of the coin is his numerous army, and in the upper part of the coin in the sky is a cloud in the shape of a leopard's head, an allegorical image of the khagan.

A distinctive feature of this silver coin is the use of oxidation technology, or artificial aging. It is used to create a striking relief image of a horseman on the matte field of the coin.

Incidentally, at that time, the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic minted collector coins at the Kazakh and Slovak mints. It is not specified which mint this coin belongs to.

“It is in excellent condition, unopened, in its original packaging from the National Bank and with a certificate of authenticity,” writes the seller.

The appearance of such offers on the secondary market shows that the collectible coins of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic are gaining not only symbolic but also real material value over the years.
