US President Donald Trump is scheduled to host a private dinner for top holders of his TRUMP meme coin this Thursday at the Trump National Golf Club in Washington, D.C.

US President Donald Trump is set to host a private dinner on Thursday at the Trump National Golf Club in Washington, D.C., for top holders of his TRUMP meme coin, which could see up to 220 of the leading investors in attendance.

The top 25 holders of the token will also be treated to a special tour of the White House during an “exclusive reception,” according to a report by Bloomberg, which also noted that all attendees had to undergo background checks.

However, 19 of the top 25 holders are based outside of the US, which could raise concerns over national security and ethics.

Among the confirmed attendees is Justin Sun, the founder of the Tron blockchain, is set to attend the event. Sun, who is originally from China, was previously sued by Biden-era regulators for allegedly selling unregistered securities and manipulating market activity.

Sun, who is now the no.1 holder of the $TRUMP token, announced on X (formerly Twitter) late Monday that he had secured the top spot on the $TRUMP token leaderboard, earning him an invite to the president’s dinner and the exclusive VIP reception for top 25 holders.

“Honored to support @POTUS and grateful for the invitation from @GetTrumpMemes to attend President Trump’s Gala Dinner as his TOP fan!” Sun said.

“As the top holder of $TRUMP, I’m excited to connect with everyone, talk crypto and discuss the future of our industry.”

Also among the notable invitees are Singapore-based crypto network MemeCore and an Australian crypto entrepreneur.

What Are Meme Coins?

Meme coins, such as Dogecoin, are joke-themed cryptocurrencies that often gain popularity through viral marketing and online communities, rather than intrinsic utility or technical merit.

Bitcoin Hits Record High

In broader crypto rally, Bitcoin soared to a new all-time high of USD 109,487 on Wednesday, eclipsing its previous record of USD 109,200 set on Inauguration Day. Prices later eased to around USD 108,400 by the evening.

Bitcoin has gained about 5 per cent over the past week and now posts a 16 per cent increase for the year to date.

Spot bitcoin ETFs are gaining momentum as investors keep an eye on sti pending legislation that could be favorable for the sector.

The TRUMP meme coin, which launched on January 17, initially surged to 75.35 on Inauguration Day before plummeting to below USD 8 by April.

But the token has staged a sharp recovery - up 76 per cent over the past month - after Trump announced plans for the gala dinner in late April.
